Takayama Sake Festival

So it turns out my luck struck again.  I had a sleep in in the morning, intending to do a day trip out to a famous onsen town & check out a waterfall.  But as I was leaving & talking to the receptionist she asked if I was going to the festival.  What?  What festival? I haven't heard of no festival!
Turns out I came here on the day they have their first 'Sake' festival for the year which celebrates the first batch of new Sake for the year!

Lots of groups carry sake floats through the old streets with much fanfare and Taiko drumming and free tasting of the new sake given out to anyone who asked.
