Ramen and Okonimiyaki

New Years is way bigger than Xmas. And the Morita family are hosting a bit of an event so we sort of did a spring clean in the morning. Afterwards the whole family packed up and went to Dad's favorite Ramen restaurant for lunch

You order with a vending machine which gives you a ticket which you exchange for the ramen when it's ready. It was a cross legged affair - no seats proper Japanese place. And boy was it good. Originally Chinese - the Japanese take on it is delicious. Mako's dad loves garlic and there's always the family that argue with him and tell him he shouldn't because he smells after. But he went ahead and put about 4 cloves in it which was quite a laugh.

Afterwards everyone was pretty relaxed & we were thinking of going to a public bath house. Somehow we all sat around for too long and instead we made Okonimiyaki at home which was good fun and tasty.

After that, the bath was filled with a citrus based bath salt and made extra hot so it was such a perfect end to a great little day it deserved it's own blog post haha.
